Born in Holualoa, he was a retired Hawaii National Guard staff sergeant and Vietnam War veteran, member of Vietnam Combat Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Big Island National Guard Retiree, life member of Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, associate advisor for the Holualoa Explorer Post 26, Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster of Holualoa Boy Scout Troop 26, Konas first recipient of the Boy Scouts of America district Order of Merit Award, founder and advisor of Holualoa Eagle Scout Service Society, former president of Kona Jaycees and usher and Eucharistic minister at St. Matthew Mateo Heneralau, 78, of Kealakekua died April 9 at Kona Community Hospital.
